    – Who We Are -

History – Who we are

The creation of Bluefin was inevitable as the textile business has been in the soul of José Maia since he was born.

Belonging to a family with long heritage and tradition in the Portuguese textile industry, José has been in contact with fabrics and garments since a very early age, spending a lot of his time after school and during holidays in the middle of the action at textile factory floors surrounded by spinners, dyeing jets and all other machinery.

José ventured into other business sectors after obtaining his degree from a top UK university but never lost his fascination about vibrant coloured fabrics and factory floors as that was, and still is, his passion.

As a result he decided to embrace and pursue the dream of setting up his own textile company.

Focusing on the Corporate and Workwear sectors from the early stage, José quickly realized that there was a gap in this market: there weren´t any suitable solutions that provided companies with garments that on one hand, were functional, norm-compliant and technically suitable, but on the other hand were also made with style and design. As a result, Bluefin decided to transfer a strong sense of style, design and comfort into technically advanced Corporate, Workwear and PPE garments.

For that reason, in late 2010, Bluefin was born.

Culture - What we believe

Our dream is simple: to make garments that workers feel safe in and are proud to wear both in and out of the workplace.

Our success is built within a team that is responsible, motivated and happy.

As Europeans producing in Portugal, our main concern is to positively contribute towards the sustainability of Europe´s industrial and corporate sectors and the job safety they represent. By developing garment solutions for our own European market, we aim to modestly add value and innovation to the long history of the European textile sector and its evolution.
